Great tips Bob, thinking ahead and planning makes a real difference and water is such an important one (especially with the heatwaves we have been having here recently!).

      Hi Jen,
You also having heat issues there? It has been incredible here with no rain at all and 90 degree F temperatures. Hopefully we’ll get some much-needed rain soon. Thanks for dropping by and I hope all is well with you.

      Best,
      Bob

  2. Water is without a question the most important thing to do when you set out hiking. The rest of your tips are good as well, I try and follow them anytime I decide to go out hiking.

    Bob,
In addition to leaving a map with someone so they know where you will be and when to expect you back, you need to carry a map yourself. The map and compass aren’t always used on the trail (depending how well marked the trail is), but they are crucial if you get lost. Packing them with you and knowing how to use them is important.

      Hi Roger,
Thanks for that information. It sounds like you are certainly an authority that we can learn from when it comes to hiking. I appreciate your advice.

      Best,
      Bob
