If you’ve ever thought about creating your own workout area at home and want to either squat or bench press, you simply need a support like the York Barbell Pro Series 204 Support.

Well, I did just that at my home in the White Mountains of NH (USA), but I didn’t create a workout area in my house, I created it in my 12′ X 20′ shed. And, to be honest, since the pandemic happened, it has been one of the smartest things I have ever done!

I am one of those people who has been working out since I was a teenager which is about 50 years ago. I honestly don’t know what I would’ve done if I couldn’t walk out to my heated shed and workout any time I want to. Here are some links to how I insulated my shed walls and ceiling.

I put together a youTube video below that goes over the features of the York Barbell Pro Series 204 Support and I also provide a demo of me benching and squatting.

Here is a breakdown of the various sections of the youTube video:

  • 0:00 – Introduction
  • 4:42 – Features of the York Barbell Pro Series 204 Barbell Support
  • 11:03 – Benching demonstration
  • 15:00 – Demonstration of the value of spotter bars
  • 17:57 – Setting up York Barbell Pro Series 204 Barbell Support for squatting
  • 21:59 – Quick squatting demonstration with just the Olympic Bar (no weights added)
  • 22:35 – Final thoughts

The video is pretty comprehensive and if you want to use it for benching you will need to purchase a bench. I bought the York Barbell STS Flat-to-Incline Bench and I love it. This article will give you a review and a youTube video review of that bench.

Another, more recent piece of workout equipment I purchased, is my XMark calf raise seated machine. It is also a high-quality machine that I’ve recently added to my workouts. I love it!

Whenever I am lifting in my shed workout area I always make it a point to support my wrists sufficiently and I do so by wearing my Rip Toned Wrist Wraps. I really wouldn’t work out without them.
